New Project

I took on my own first woodworking project!
I made this little box, and stained it myself.
I painted some jars I had around, and added some fake flowers.

I think it adds a little something extra to our kitchen!
The jars are the same colors as the chairs and it is pretty!

I'm liking learning some new things and being creative!

Recent Projects

I've been working on some fun little projects lately
and I thought I would share for fun.

I had a stencil made of my violin studio logo
(Thanks Erika!)
and painted little canvas tote  bags for all of my students.
Aren't they SO cute?

I absolutely love how they turned out!
I'm thinking we need t-shirts, too, right? haha

I also threw this together for our amazing preschool teacher.

We have really loved our preschool teacher for the last 2 years!
I can't believe Piper won't be in preschool anymore.
I try not to think about her starting kindergarten,
it makes my stomach hurt.

But, I sure have good timing.
haha
I somehow find myself some wonderful projects to do
at the worst times,
Like moving. haha

Oh well!
XOXO

October Crafts

For the last little while, Piper hasn't really had much interest in playing with me.
I suggest lots of things to do and she's was rarely participating.
So I had an idea, or maybe some inspiration
to do a craft a day in the month of October.
I thought it would be a fun way for us to reconnect and do something
creative together.
I think helping kids be creative is super important.

So, we got a later start than I planned, but we've done a few fun crafts together.
None of these are super exciting.
I got most of the ideas off Pinterest.
And she doesn't usually sit still for long,
so I consider anything that she does for more than 10 minutes
that isn't watching TV, a complete success!
haha

Here are a few that we've done so far:

Painting pumpkins.
Easy easy.
Just buy pumpkins and use some washable acrylic paint.
Piper's started out colorful and fun, but every few days she's added more paint,
so now they're mostly black.
But still fun!

Mummies!
I cut out little people shapes and then we used masking tape to wrap them up
and glued on some eyes.
Again, not hard at all,
but this was fun!

Then we made Halloween silhouettes.
We used water colors to paint a background and
glued on pumpkins, bats, and kitties that I cut out.
I need to get a picture of her finished one.
Its cute!

And we made candy corn.
We cut out little pieces of paper to glue to our candycorn shapes.
She LOVED this one.
Piper really loves anything that involves cutting paper. haha
And she requested glitter for hers.
So her little candycorn is colorful and sparkly!

We've also finger painted and a few other things,
but we have some more crafts coming up over the next few days!
I'll keep sharing.

And I think we are going to keep this up and try for
2 or 3 fun season-themed crafts a week.
So, if you have any good ideas, please send them my way!
Thanksgiving and Christmas will be extra fun, I'm sure!

finger puppets

Over the last few days,
after bedtime, I've been busy working on some little finger puppets for Piper.
Its been fun for me to have my own little project and Piper really likes them.

They aren't anything special. Just felt.
I free-handed most of everything.
Felt is REALLY easy to work with.
I even have some more plans for some future projects that Piper will love too!

Super fun!

Glitter Letters

Last week, I went a little glitter crazy and ended up making myself some glitter letters for our bedroom.

I just bought some plain wood letters from Roberts. They have tons of different kinds and sizes and things!

Mix some mod podge and glitter and using a sponge brush, apply a thin coat to your letters.
The Mod Podge will dry clear, so don't worry about all of the white glue.

I did quite a few coats on each letter.
I let them dry a little between each coat, and then left them out overnight so they could dry even more.

I hung them on the wall near our bed like so:

I think they turned out great! I still have tons of glitter left over, too. Maybe I'll make something else..

Headbands

Just some quick pictures of the headbands I made this weekend. Nothing too exciting. Aren't you just so impressed with my modeling skills?? I should go out for ANTM, don't you think??

I also made a couple of really really pretty scarfs, if I may say so myself. I gave Lizzy one for her birthday, and the other I ran out of yarn inches before the end. And, since its most likely going to be a gift for Christmas, I'm not going to post a picture of it. But one I finish the other ones I'm working on, I'll put up photos.

Happy Happy Monday!

We went to Park City for the weekend. Here are some pictures:

People were walking weird and I took this.
Looks like Spencer is strutting his stuff.
hehehe

Harry Potter Scarecrow.

We finally finished our dresser!

AND, the letters hung on the wall :)

Flowers

Here are some of my recent floral arrangements and things:

I made this one today in Lab. Its just a glass cube with some pretty stuff in it. There are other pictures following.

This next one, I made a few weeks ago in Lab also. It was a "wrapped" arrangement at first. I got kinda junky foliage.

I also made this "fall-ish" wreath with silk flowers and one of those foam wreath things. Its hanging on our bathroom door covering holes. I think its kinda cute though....

Happy Wednesday!
