Sunday Sunday

Sundays aren't my most favorite days.
Church with a 1 year old is really tough sometimes
and then trying to entertain my kids the rest of the day really wears me out.
I try to keep things Christ centered, but sometimes I can barely get through the day.
I'm not exactly sure why.
Maybe I'm extra tired, but I'm such a grump on Sundays.

And this week was no different.
I was just a bit grouchy most of the day.
Until we got outside on a walk.
It was such a gorgeous day!
Chilly in the morning and nice and warm later.
Piper loves to be out on her bike and is so fun to be around!
Hayley enjoys being outside, especially with the chance of seeing puppies!

They are fun little buddies sometimes.
Usually Piper is doing something that upsets Hayley,
but every once and a while they get along and its magical!

I'm going to keep working hard on being a happy mom on Sunday!
Maybe I just need to go to bed earlier :)
haha

And, in case you missed this on my instagram,
@brebeccalewis
here's a video of my silly Hayley.

Hayley is a riot.
She has such a goofy personality!
She loves making people laugh!

Its been a fun few days!
And we are just looking forward to more!

Piper says

Piper has been saying lots of funny things lately.
But I have a few favorites.

Now, whenever she's playing with her books,
she always says,
"According to my book...."
and then goes on to say other things.
It cracks me up!

And whenever we are getting together with someone she
hasn't seen in a while,
she says, "Oh! I haven't seen you in a couple whiles!"
Its my favorite!

She's a riot!
And she will probably KILL me later in life, but I just have to post this video.
She's feeding her baby and it is so funny!
I think I watch it every day!

Love my girls so much!

Piper is 3!!

Our little Piper is 3!
And not so little anymore!

She loves spaghetti, cafe rio, and salads.
Her favorite show is octonauts
(she won't watch anything else!)
She loves to play in the water and to be with her friends.

She is sassy and bossy and hilarious!
She constantly makes us laugh and we are always amazed at
how many words she knows.
She really keeps us on our toes, but we wouldn't change a thing!

And here are a couple of videos of our silly girl!

We sure love this girl and love the person that she is growing up to be!

I can't believe my baby is 3 years old!!
How in the world did that happen!!!

Sorry to do to Piper posts in a row,
but this was just too funny not to share!

On Sunday morning, before church,
Piper was doing this silly game.
She was announcing herself and then giving little performances.
Trevor was lucky enough to be there the whole time,
but I only caught the end of it!

We were laughing so hard!

Here's a little video of what she was doing:

and yes... I'm terrible and had video footage of me lying to my own child.
But if I told her what I was doing, she would've stopped.
Totally worth it!

She has a fun imagination and just always makes us laugh!

Silly Piper Sayings

Piper is a very verbal little girl.
As in, she NEVER stops talking.
She always has something to say to everyone :)

(photo from keala from a while ago, but I just LOVE it!)

A few weeks ago, we were on a walk and she turned to me and said,
"It is so yummy out here, Mom"
I loved that she was trying to describe the day, and those are the words she used.
That same day, she asked, "Can we have a date out here?"

She was playing with her Easter eggs the other day, pretending little chicks and
baby penguins were escaping and that she needed to catch them all.
She ran down the stairs after one, and yelled,
"I'll catch you, you little punk!"

Trevor came to get in the car for church one Sunday.
Piper said, "You look a little handsome.. for a boy."
hahaha that had me laughing for a while!

And a little bit ago, we were playing at the park.
Piper was helping another little girl climb the stairs and go down the slides.
The little girl was probably just over a year old, so she didn't talk much.
I asked Piper what the baby's name was and she said,
"I don't know her name. I'll just call her ravioli."
And she called the little girl "ravioli" the rest of the time we were there.
So funny!!

I'm trying to be good about writing all of these things down
and sometimes they are too funny not to share!

These days, Piper is obsessed with:
trains
Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood
Basketball/Football games
jumping. she never stops.
The Bruno Mars song: Uptown Funk.
(We listen to it constantly and she sings along and it is HILARIOUS!)
ravioli (obviously.)

She's getting really excited to meet her baby sister.
She likes to talk to her in the mornings and its adorable!
(16 weeks to go until we see her little face!!!)

Here are a couple of silly videos for fun!

Our Little News

Just in case  you're not on instagram or Facebook,
I thought I'd post this here!

We are having another baby! Hooray!

I'm a little over 3 months along (13 weeks about)
and am doing well.
Much, much better than my last pregnancy.
Seriously so much better, but still very sick.

We are soooo excited to bring another little one into our lives!
Piper is thrilled too!
She is convinced she's getting a baby sister, and she's pretty sure
she has a baby in her belly too.
haha!

I guess this explains my recent absence from life.
haha!
I haven't been blogging much, or going out much,
or taking many pictures.
Whenever Piper is sleeping, I'm sleeping
and laying down and resting.
That's why things have been slow around here.
But, thankfully, my energy is coming back and things are good!

And that's about it!

Piper says:

2 year olds sure say some funny things!
Here are some things our little girl has said lately.

She always says, "This is awesome" or "this is the best ever!"
when she is having fun.

My cousin, Alec, was in the hospital again a few weeks ago
(He just got a new liver, and is doing well!)
and when I told Piper about it she asked,
"Is he getting another new leg?"
So close. haha

Sometimes when we are driving in the car,
I quiz her on her animal sounds, or songs or things.
Once, I was asking her about family names.
She keeps everyone in pairs, like "mommy and daddy" and "brianna and rob", etc.
So, I asked her who went with Tori and she said, "Sophie."
That's Tori's dog. haha!

Since Carly has been on her mission,
we have had a handful of conversations about missions.
Piper always tells me that she "wants to go on a mission like Carly."
And everytime we drive by the MTC, which is almost every day,
she talks about the missionaries.
Its pretty cute!
I've actually been thinking about trying to have the missionaries in our stake over
for dinner sometime.
Piper would probably love it!

And a couple of cute videos:

Love this kid! She's so fun!

Like I said,
We are teaching her all the important things!

Congrats to BYU on their awesome win last night.
Wish we could've been there
(Or watched. We don't have TV)

tune of the week

Well, to start back in with my tunes,
I picked a pretty favorite of mine:
The Lover's Waltz

Enjoy the video! It has some wonderful commentary from Piper.
But, its the best take that I got, and after 7 tries with a 2 year old in the room,
this is as good as its gonna get. hahaha
Maybe I'll start shutting her in the other room when I try to record things. :)

Here it goes:

Let me know what you think or if you have any tunes you want to hear.

silly little piper

We have had the funiest couple of days at our house.
And I just had to show these two little videos.

Madeleine taught Piper a bunch of Harry Potter spells a few weeks ago.
This morning, she walked in the house with a stick and was yelling this.
So funny!

Piper has spent the last few days constantly singing and running around with missing clothing.
(Seriously, how do you keep a 2 year-old dressed... ha ha ha)

2 has turned out to be really fun!
And possibly my new favorite phase.
2 is really opinionated, and a little bit bossy,
but full of singing little songs, and repeating EVERY word I say.
I have to really watch what I say now.
Whenever we are driving, Piper says "What are you doing buddy?" all the time.
hahaha

Love this girl!

Hope everyone else is having a fun week!

My Parenting

I guess that is a weird post title.
But I wasn't sure what to put.

I've had a handful of friends ask me about Piper.
She talks a lot!
More than some 3-year olds (according to our doctor)
I've had some ask me if there is something that we have done
to encourage that.
I want to laugh because we haven't done a thing.

I have, however, tried to encourage her to talk as much as I can.
But, I think what Trevor and I have done the most,
is to try and talk to her like an equal.

Once, a few years ago, while I was working at Color Me Mine,
I watched a mom interacting with her 4 year old daughter.
She talked to her like a friend and treated her very respectfully.
It was very refreshing since most parent's aren't like that with their
kids at at pottery painting studio.
This mom really impacted me.
I wanted to treat my little kids just like that.

And that's what I try to do.
I try to stay cool headed and treat Piper like an equal.
I try to talk to her like she's a grown-up, I guess.
I try to use words she understands,
but I do try to tell her new words and teach her new things.
I just try to never talk down to her, literally or in tone.
I like to get down to her level and have a real conversation with her.
I think that since Piper feels listened to,
she has felt encouraged to talk on her own.

And that's all.
I've read one parenting book, but I really try to follow my instincts.
As she's getting older and we are starting new things (i.e. potty training)
I'll probably look to books for more advice.

But, I guess that is my advice for all moms.
Follow your instincts!

And a little video of my sweet little girl
up-side-down sunglasses and all!

little moving pictures

Piper has been a complete riot the last few days.
I feel like I've been trying to video tape EVERYTHING.
This morning, she saw me pull out my phone and just looked at me and said,
"mommy, no camera pees."

But here are a few of my favorites:

I love the way she asks for help at the end of that video.
She is so funny!

I still can't get over how much she talks at just 20 months.
She just has so much to say.

She's also gotten really into back rubs lately and always wants to rub my back.
Its pretty adorable and I don't have a clue where she gets it from.
But last night, She insisted on giving me one before bed.
While she was rubbing her tiny hands all over my back, she just said,
"oh so good." hahaha
We about died laughing!

little piper: 20 months

I can't believe it, but my little baby is 20 months old today!

Piper is the greatest! She is full of attitude and energy.
We spend most of every day dancing and singing and running around outside.

She loves eating but is starting to get a little picky with some foods.
She's perfected taking off her clothes lately and has started to give me some trouble with getting dressed.
I think its pretty funny!
She's still pretty tiny, but she's growing and is up to 18 month size clothes for now.

She's obsessed with princesses and turtles and is all kinds of fun!
She constantly says funny things and is always trying to make us laugh.

I love her little voice!
Here's a couple cute videos:

We sure love this little girl!
I'm so grateful for every day that I get to be her mom!

little moving pictures

Here are a few cute videos of our silly little girl:

Piper has started doing some really silly things lately.

In the car, if there's music playing that she doesn't like, she will yell "no dance!" until I turn it off.
We have a lot of really quiet car rides.
Well, rides without music. Nothing with Piper is ever quiet. ha ha ha

She's learned how to take off her clothes and this morning when I went to get her out of her crib,
she had taken off all of her pajamas and kept saying that she was "cold".
Silly!

Piper LOVES to dance.
And she is obsessed with One Direction, just like her mom.
We have so much fun dancing to all of their music all day EVERY day!

We had pizza for dinner the other day, and after I picked it up, she screamed the entire drive home
because she wanted some.
Then later, when she saw the empty box on the counter, she got really upset and kept saying
"all gone pizza..."
It was pretty cute!

She is so friendly and fun.
And thankfully, she has started being really consistent with naps everyday and has been sleeping really well at night.
