Fall Fiddle Concert

Last week, we had our Fall Fiddle Concert!
It was so fun!

I set up our backyard with some fun lights and pumpkins!

It turned out to be a pretty perfect setting!
It got a little chilly near the end of the concert, but I think everyone had fun!

I have a fun group of students and I love them all so much!

I'll be posting videos regularly, so check it out if you're interested :)

I love love LOVE teaching violin.
But, I can't keep up this pace forever, so I'm trying to
find another way to still pursue what I love in a way
that maybe doesn't take up as much of my time.
Go check it out!

I've got some more things to learn about video editing and stuff,
so it will be cooler and all that later :)
I also need a better light. haha
But I'm working on it!

Tune Tuesday (on Wednesday)

Hi Friends!
I'm starting up my Tune Tuesdays and figured I'd post today,
even thought its a day late.
So check out this GORGEOUS tune.
Its The Ludlows from Legend of the Fall.

Piper was the Director, and at one point was tapping on the tripod,
so sorry about that. haha

That's life trying to film with a 4 year old around, I guess!
HA!

Let me know what you think and let me know if you have any requests!

Fall Violin Recital: 2016

On Saturday, I had a violin recital at my house.
We miraculously fit 55 people in our living/dining room area of our house.
All the kids did so GREAT!
I was so proud of everyone and can't wait to see how much they learn
and grow over the next months!

And next time, I'll get more of my students to play!
We were missing about 9.
But aren't they a cute bunch?

I'm just SO proud!!!

Violin Lessons!

I'm re-vamping a bunch of my violin things, along with raising my prices
in the next few months.
If you or someone you know wants violin lessons,
contact me soon to lock in my current pricing for the next year.
(Until May 2017.)
Any sign ups after May 1 will be subject to new pricing and policies.

My schedule is flexible, and for more advanced students,
I am open to teaching via skype or another web-based video service.

Teaching is one of my most favorite things and we always have a great

violin studio update

Hey all!

I interrupt my usual Piper-filled posts for a little violin announcement.

I've decided to close my studio for the summer and pick things up again
in September.
With a new baby coming in as little as 8 weeks,
and so many family things,
we decided this will be easier for us.

So, if you or someone you know is looking for a violin teacher,
I will be starting up things again in September, with the start of the new school year.

Thanks!

women's conference

Well, I had an exciting week!
Thanks to my sweet cousin Brianna, I got to play my violin at women's conference.
I was filling in for another violinist to accompany Paul Cardall, the pianist.
It was very last minute, and, while the music wasn't hard, I was still sight reading
which is a bit intimidating.

But it was SO cool to be in a full Marriott center!
And on the floor!!!
We played 2 songs and then were lucky enough to hear from Bonnie L. Oscarson.
It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!

I took this after it was over, when I finally got to my purse again!

BYU TV will broadcast a recording of the session soon,
and I'll be on TV.
CRAZY!
I'll post when I know its on, so you can see it if you want.
Sister Oscarson shared a great message and the music was really pretty!

It was such a great experience and I was so lucky to participate!

And a special thanks to Madeleine for watching Piper!
She's on a bit of a wild streak, so thanks!

Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra

I joined an orchestra!
Finally!!
I've been wanting to for a while, and finally got an audition!
Thankfully it went well, and I'm in!

It has been a blast so far!
I've made some new friends and have loved being part of a group again!

AND Trevor joined too!
Its kinda like date night now.
We get a night out without Piper!

Its been a really fun new thing to do together and I really enjoy having a night away from home.

Rebecca Lewis Music Studio

AND....

Another change of plans.
I know I posted a link to my new studio website,
but I decided to change my mind about using wordpress
and am sticking with blogger.

Here's the new link (click the picture)

And I put a little button on the side of this blog too.

Some cool things are planned on that site that should be up and running officially this week!

A special thanks goes out to my friend Lizzy for making my awesome logo!
She's kinda the best!
And make the greatest cross-stitches!

new violin site

Hey all!

I started a new violin website, for teaching and other things.
It is still in the works,
but if you are interested in watching my little tunes and other violin related things,
that's where I will be posting those things.

I just started it tonight, so its not even close to finished,
but I thought I'd post the link here
and if anyone has any feedback, I would love to have it!

Check it out and let me know what you think!

tune of the week: my favorite hymns

For today's tune, these are 2 of my favorite hymns.
I love the melodies and the simplicity of both of these tunes.

Here goes:

Sorry for the weird angles in the video.
I have really got to start recording these when Trevor is home,
so I don't have to prop my phone/camera up on something.
haha

Hope you enjoyed today's tune!
Happy Tuesday

tune of the week

Well, to start back in with my tunes,
I picked a pretty favorite of mine:
The Lover's Waltz

Enjoy the video! It has some wonderful commentary from Piper.
But, its the best take that I got, and after 7 tries with a 2 year old in the room,
this is as good as its gonna get. hahaha
Maybe I'll start shutting her in the other room when I try to record things. :)

Here it goes:

Let me know what you think or if you have any tunes you want to hear.

violin update

Well, I've decided to start posting some of my violin tunes
on this little blog of mine.
I stopped for a lot of reasons, but mostly because I was SO sick when I was pregnant.
And then I hadn't really felt up to it
until recently.

So, I'll start posting some new tunes up here again next week.
Get excited!
I have some fun new ones coming up.

In other musical news, here's a video of Piper singing this morning:

She has crazy hair, but I love it anyway.
I love the cup of cookies too.
She is almost always carrying around some sort of food.
I didn't know a 2 year old could eat so much.

And this morning, she ate her oatmeal with an ice cream scoop:

Well, Happy Thursday!

Fall schedule

This week marks the start of school.
And the start of my Fall violin teaching schedule.
While we are adjusting to afternoon lessons instead of morning ones (Hooray!)
I thought I'd just post on here that I have some extra slots open for students.
I teach all ages. In fact, most of my students are adults.
My schedule is fairly flexible and we always have a great time while learning how to
play the violin.
I teach classical, mostly Sizuki method, but I also love fiddling
and most of my students love the variety of music.

Let me know if you are interested in more information.

I promise you want to come hang out with us:

Hope everyone is having a happy Monday!
XOXO

tune of the week

Here's today's tune of the week.

This is one of my favorites.

I think its time we invest in a tri-pod.
I'm getting tired of propping my phone up on things to record when I'm home alone.
But I figure that is better than nothing. Ha ha ha.

Hope you enjoyed it as well as the other tunes I've posted.
Thanks so much for tuning in!

XOXO

2014

2014 is going to be a big year for me!
I'm really looking forward to some of the things that are coming up in my life and
can't wait to share them all with you.

I have a lot of goals and things that I'd like to accomplish over the next year,
as I'm sure most of you do.
But, my major ones revolve around my personal health and my music.

I really, REALLY want to lose the rest of my pregnancy weight.
Like everyone else, I'm starting the new year renewed and ready to crack down and really get this weight off.
Mostly, I'm motivated by the fact that this is a family beach year and I only have
7 more months left to get going!
haha
I don't know if I'll say much about my weight loss and things on this here blog,
but who knows....

With music, I will probably be posting a lot more.
I've decided to start doing more with my violin.
I am planning to audition or join an orchestra.
There are a couple in our area that would work out with my schedule.
I have a few new students starting over the next week (wish me luck!)
and I'm starting to work on building up my repertoire and all that good stuff.
I'm also going to start posting a recording of a tune a week.
Just for fun and to keep me motivated to keep learning and growing musically.
Look forward to my first video in the next couple days!

I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday and are ready to welcome the new year!
I know that I am!
