We had a fun weekend filled with yummy food, family, work, and packing up our house!

changes

In addition to moving, we have had some other changes happening around these parts.

The most notable is me going back to work.

I'm not working too often, just 2 nights a week, 

but it is really nice to get out of the house and talk to some grown-ups.

Monday night was my first shift back, and it was GREAT to go back.

In addition to being back at Color Me Mine, I also have another new violin student 

starting this week!

Its great, but busy and I love it! 

So, come paint sometime! 

I'm usually there on Monday nights and Saturdays!

Its fun! So fun that I can't seem to stop working there after all these many years! haha

AND....

WE'RE MOVING!!

again

Its a little sudden, but we are really excited to start this next chapter in our little life.

We will be moving back to Provo, just above the temple.

So, if we aren't posting as much here over the next few weeks 

its because we are busy packing up the house!

14 months

Little blue eyes is 14 months today!

Can't believe it! 

I've been thinking a lot about the last year of my life with Piper.

It has definitely been harder than I expected, but I've loved it!

Especially the last few months.

It is so fun to have a walking, talking, playing little person around the house!

She is wild sometimes, and church is the worst (why do they all save their worst behavior for church? haha) 

but she is the greatest little girl ever! 

I love all the words she can say now. The list is growing everyday!

Love this little girl!

Sorry world!

Sorry things have been so quiet around these parts.

We are getting used to a toddler who has officially stopped napping

(until she passes out in the middle of the living room)

and I have been taking on a handful of new violin students.

Its been a very busy, LONG couple of days.

piper: 13 months

I know I said I was done with the monthly photos,

and I think I am, but I still wanted to say a few things about our little 

13 month old.

Then I think I'm done :) 

 This happened the other day while we were watching the rain.

I just had to snap a picture before pulling her out!

Babies are just so flexible!

Well, our little Piper is growing up!

Everyone always warns new moms about the terrible twos, but no one said a word to me 

about the ornery ones. haha

She has quite an attitude and likes to let me know who is boss.

But we still have tons of fun!

She loves hard-boiled eggs, avocados (still), and her dad!

When he is home, its like I don't even exist anymore!

She spends a couple of hours pouting in the mornings after he leaves for work.

Its a bit rough for me.

 

She is fearless.

She will talk to anyone and play with anyone!

Today, at the mall, she walked up to a sweet grandpa who was sitting in a chair, 

and just grabbed his hand.

He was so nice about it and it was pretty funny!

Sometimes I wish she was a bit more afraid of some things.

She thinks the vacuum is one of her toys! 

Silly girl!

We just adore our little kid and love watching her learn and grow!

the past few weeks

The past few weeks have forced me to really stretch my mommy muscles.

We are pretty exhausted around these parts.

It all started out with Piper teething.

She wouldn't take any naps and was quite the handful for about a week.

It was hard, but bearable. 

She finally cut a little tooth and seemed to perk up a bit.

Then the flu hit.

First it was Piper, then Trevor and me.

We all survived, but the last few days have been a nightmare.

We have had a bunch of help from both our families and some awesome people in the ward.

Thanks to everyone for their help! 

We really appreciate it!

We are resting up this weekend and ready for some fun next week!

Project 25

Well, I'm still trying to get my little project going...

Recently, I made this. 

 It was pretty yummy. 

I'm not the biggest fan of Italian Dressing, but Trevor LOVED it!

I also just finished Dan Brown's new book Inferno. 

It was a very interesting read. 

Before I recommend it to anyone, there are a few moments that made me a little uncomfortable.

It never went into great detail.

I just felt the need to say that before I tell anyone to go out and get a copy.

I'm a pretty big fan of Dan Brown and have read everything he's had published (I think.)

If you like a good, fast-paced mystery, you will probably enjoy this one!

Also going along with my project 25, 

I have lost about 12 pounds! HOORAY!

I'm doing a combination of running, walking, and P90X 

as well as staying between 1200 and 1400 calories a day.

Its been crazy hard, but its nice to see some progress finally.

I have also been working on some new violin stuff.

I have a few new students, which has been really fun!

I'm considering joining the American Fork Symphony or the Utah Valley Symphony

just to get out and play more.

But, right now I'm learning the Brahms Sonata No. 1 in G Major

 Here's a pretty recording by the fabulous Itzhak Perlman.

 Its one of my favorites and I've been wanting to learn it for a long time!

Well, that's about it!

Piper Elizabeth at 9 Months

This little girl is growing up so fast!

She is the most independent little spirit!

She refuses to eat anything unless she can do it herself

which means my kitchen (read: house) is a mess of cherrios and banana slices.

But I wouldn't ask for anything different.

I'm loving this stage of independence!

We are having so much fun!

getting into everything

and making people laugh!

She is such a busy, busy girl and is EVERYWHERE!

She's not walking yet, but is getting around on furniture and along walls.

Its so fun to watch her learn something new everyday!

Piper at 7 months!

Our little girl is 7 months old now!

We can hardly believe it.

Now that we are very far away from the new born stage, it feels like time is

going by even faster.

Its not fair.

Piper is super fun these days!

She is ALL over the place and officially into everything.

Well, mostly the things that are on the floor!

She is laughing more and LOVES music.

She loves oatmeal and bananas

and hates carrots!
She loves her daddy, but thinks that I'm hilarious.
She loves other babies and has started sitting up more!
(She was crawling before sitting. Weird.)

We are really enjoying this stage and I wish that it lasted longer!

I still need to pull out the big camera and do some 7 months pictures.
I will post those as soon as they are taken and edited.
Also, a new video of this crazy crawler is coming up soon too!

inconsistent

I think my mom said it perfectly when she said,

"The most consistent thing about your baby is that she is inconsistent."

Love that little girl, but she sure does keep me on my toes!!

Example: I got my first full night of uninterrupted sleep last night in over 2 weeks!

AND I got to take a hot shower before 10:00 am this morning.

On Saturday, Piper took a 3 hour nap (WHAT?!?) instead of her usual 20-30 minute ones.

Like I said, never know what you're gonna get with that little girl!

Also, Trevor and I finished watching LOST last night for the first time.
I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but I kind of cried my way through most of the last episode.
We're looking for something new to watch together after Piper goes to bed.
Anyone have any recommendations?

Piper Update

Piper at 6 months.

26.4 inches long (50%)

13 lbs (barely 20%)

Tall and Skinny and one wild child!

Want to know a secret?

 It is SUPER hard to try and lose weight when your husband keeps going to Wendy's and coming 

home with 6 (yes you read that right!) frosties.

He's crazy sometimes.

I should say that he buys a bunch and then eats them all over a few days

so its not as bad as it really sounds. 

But, my freezer is full of frosties. 

Love him and his weird food addictions.

 

life lately

life has been keeping us very busy the last few weeks!

I started training for my new job with jetBlue. 

I am in training every day from 4 to midnight. Its killer, but is going very well!

I had my first assessment yesterday, and got the highest score in the whole class! Hooray!

I am living up in Salt Lake so that I'm not driving back to Provo that late at night. 

Its nice to be so close to training and to be able to spend some extra time with my mom!

In just the last few days, I've started feeling baby girl's little kicks and punches! 

What a crazy feeling!

Also, its super distracting during training, which is when she tends to be really active! 

I can't wait to see Trevor this weekend so that he can finally feel her move too!

She's growing!

This was last Friday when I was just about 21 weeks!

I'm starting to get big!

I finally got some maternity clothes and am a lot more comfortable!

Maternity clothes are so soft and comfortable! I think I'm officially converted! 

I might not ever where real jeans again!

This weekend we are going to play hard! 

Its been a LONG week and we aren't loving being apart so much, 

so we are trying to go on a fun little date every weekend when I'm home!

New Job

I am starting a new job tomorrow!

I worked my (most likely) last shift at Color Me Mine on Saturday

and am starting my training with JetBlue tomorrow.

What a nice change this is going to be!

I'm going to be off my feet and will be able to work from home in a little over a month!

I feel really blessed to have this opportunity and can't wait to start something new.

Trevor is still on the search for a job.

He's getting pretty frustrated right now.

He isn't in school or working and I think he's starting to get a little stir-crazy, 

so if anyone knows of any leads please let us know!

He is a little limited because of his broken foot (still!) but will take almost anything at this point.

Well, he can't really stand or walk for long periods of time, and he's done sales before which didn't work out, 

but other than that, he'll take almost anything!

With my new job, I will be living up with my parents in SLC during the week for the rest of the month!

SLC buddies, let me know if you want to do lunch sometime! 

My shift is from 4-12:00 am every Monday through Friday.

I'm really looking forward to starting a new routine and meeting new people!

Life Lately

1. Trevor snuggled up at the condo.

Trevor grew out a beard over the last few weeks, but had to shave it off on Saturday. 

He did some gross stuff with his facial hair while he was shaving.

A Couple of Things

A couple of miraculous things have happened this week.

#1. I mowed my first lawn EVER. I wanted to be really helpful yesterday while Trevor was doing the yard.

I raked the whole front yard and then mowed 90% of the back. (I left the small section for Trevor to finish)

I'd never done anything like this before. 

My dad almost didn't believe me! 

#2. I had a manicure last more than 3 days before I picked or bit it off.

This never happens. Ever.

#3. I had a crazy dream last night. I was pregnant with triplets, about 4 months along.

I went into pre-term labor and the doctors had to stop it.

I was miserable and put on bed-rest.

Talk about a NIGHTMARE

I'm guessing that I'm super scared of being pregnant. 

This isn't the only nightmare I've had about having a miserable pregnancy! 

Don't worry! Its not going to happen anytime soon!

#4. Trevor is making chocolate chip cookies right now! I'm the luckiest girl in the world!

the weirdest thing

Today, one of the weirdest things ever happened.

It honestly felt like I was in an episode of Friends.

A bird found its way in my house.

A starling to be exact. (Dr. Black, my bird professor would be so proud that I remember that...)

We have absolutely NO clue how it got it.

All the doors were closed. So were the windows.

All of the sudden, we heard some dishes fall in the kitchen along with some other funky sounds.

Trevor went running into the kitchen and came running right back out

Looking like he had seen a ghost! 

It was actually pretty scary at first. 

We didn't really know what to do.

Eventually, we scared the bird into flying out our back door.

It was the weirdest. 

I don't think that I've ever had anything like that happen to me before.

Anyway, sorry for the lack of posting.

We are a little boring these days.

Right now, we are both mostly working.

Trevor is signed up for an Independent Study class through BYU and I will start one next week as well.

We are mostly just enjoying the rainy weather.

Its a lot easier to stay at work when its super gloomy outside. 

The sunshine always just makes me want to leave.
